Ardougne Achievement Diary

….And they release yet another one….

So far I’ve written articles for 42.85% of the Achievement diaries in Runescape, and this one will make 57.14%. Does that mean anything? Nah.

Anyways, they’ve released another diary as I’m sure you’ve noticed by now. This time we travel to Ardougne to do the Ardougne Achievement Diary.

Easy

By no means hard, nor even medium, these tasks require a bit more than some former diaries have.

Total tasks: 23
Highest Skill requirement: 16 Thieving
Total Quest requirement: 7
Hardest Quest requirement: Wolf Whistle
Easiest Task: Enter the Castle Wars waiting room
Hardest Task: Spend some Penguin Points with Larry (or Chuck) at Ardougne Zoo
Most Expensive Task: Talk to a civilian in West Ardougne about selling a cat

The reason I say the hardest task is ‘Spend some Penguin Points with Larry (or Chuck) at Ardougne Zoo’ is because if you haven’t spotted a penguin before doing this diary you’ll have to go find one. And the reason I say ‘Talk to a civilian in West Ardougne about selling a cat’ is the most expensive is because you must have a full grown cat to be able to do this.

If you’ve finished these you can head on over to Doctor Orbon in the Church in East Ardogune to get a reward. What’s the reward you ask? Well we know that Jagex is trying to build a complete Diary Outfit and we already have Varrock Body armor, Seer’s helm, Karamja Gloves, Lumbridge Ring, Fremmenik Boots, and the Falador shield, so what’s next? Everybody knows no outfit is complete without a cape(or in this case a cloak)!

The cloak gives +2 stab and magic attack and defense bonus and +2 prayer bonus, which is pretty decent considering how easy it is to get. Aside from those bonuses, it also allows you to teleport to the monastery south of Ardougne to your heart’s content, increases your change of successfully thieving in Ardougne, doubles the amount of death runes citizens in West Ardougne give for trading a cat, makes more drops from the Tower of Life noted, and gives a 10% prayer boost when taken into Castle wars.

Of course that’s not all, as most people seem to hand out Experience lamps like candy (which I guess is good since it’s nearly Halloween). Dr Orbon can only afford a 1k experience lamp though, but atleast it’s better than nothing.

Medium

As usual, nothing too difficult, though it does require a few quests.

Total tasks: 16
Highest Skill requirement: 58 Magic
Total Quest requirement: 8
Hardest Quest requirement: Watchtower
Easiest Task: Teleport to the Wilderness using the lever in Ardougne
Hardest Task: Travel to Castle Wars by hot-air balloon
Most Expensive Task: Pick watermelons from the Farming patch north of Ardougne

If you already had watermelons growing near Ardougne then you can just pick one of those and the task will be completed.

The Fairy ring code is B-I-S and you don’t have to complete Fairy Tale Part II – Cure a Queen in order to use the Fairy Rings, you only have to get up to the part where you’re allowed to use the rings.

Once you complete the medium tasks you can talk to the Town Crier in the Ardougne Market place to receive a 5k experience lamp (Criers get paid better than Doctors in Ardougne) as well as upgrading your Ardougne 1 cape to 2 and giving it the ability to teleport to the Ardogune allotment patch once per day, better chance of successfully pickpocketing in Ardougne, better chance of getting more runes at the Ourania Altar, even more noted drops from the Tower of Life, 100 free Pure essence per day from Wizard Cromperty, short immunity to attack after teleporting to the Wilderness from the Ardougne lever, and you can change the Ring of Life to teleport you to Ardougne.

In addition to this, the cloak will now give 4 to attack and defence for stab and magic as well as +4 to prayer, tying it with a trimmed skill cape for best prayer bonus in the game.

Hard

These become a bit challenging, quite depending on which quests you’ve already done and who your friends are.

Total tasks: 17
Highest Skill requirement: 71 Magic
Total Quest requirement: 7
Hardest Quest requirement: Monkey Madness
Easiest Task: Enter the Magic Guild in Yanille
Hardest Task: Kill your own jade vine after the Back to my Roots quest
Most Expensive Task: Pick a papaya or coconut from the fruit tree patch near Tree Gnome Village

Now I admit, winning a game of Castle Wars can be challenging, but if you don’t want to lose just play sometime when RSBandB is (Or ask some friends to play with you).

When you’ve championed over the hard tasks you can go to Aleck in Aleck’s Hunter Emporium in Yanille to have him upgrade the cape to 3 and give you a 28,000 experience lamp to use on any skill level 60 or above. The upgraded cape comes with an even better chance of successfully thieving anywhere in Runescape, teleports you to Ardougne’s North bank(sometimes called west bank) after thieving from chests in Ardougne that teleport you, even more drops from the Tower of Life will be noted, Wizard Cromperty will now give 50 more Pure essence per day, for a total of 150, the ability to change the Watchtower teleport spell to teleport you inside Yanille instead of to the Tower.

One thing that sets this achievement reward apart from the other two and many of the other Diaries’ is that this cape gives +6 attack and defence bonus to stab and magic, as well as +6 bonus to prayer, making it the best prayer cape in Runescape.

Elite

Elite by skill, not by nature, these tasks require high level skills, though no hard combat or high level quests are required.

Total tasks: 5
Highest Skill requirement: 93 Summoning
Total Quest requirement: 2
Hardest Quest requirement: Wolf Whistle
Easiest Task: Catch a manta ray in the Fishing Trawler minigame
Hardest Task: Make a rune crossbow yourself, from scratch, performing each step within either Withchaven or Yanille
Most Expensive Task: Make a rune crossbow yourself, from scratch, performing each step within either Withchaven or Yanille

The reason ‘Make a rune crossbow yourself, from scratch, performing each step within either Withchaven or Yanille’ is both the hardest and most expensive is because you have to make the string, yew stock, and rune limbs by yourself within Yanille or Witchaven. Considering there’s only 9,117 (as of the writing of this article) players who have 91 smithing, you won’t see many players who can truthfully boast of completing all of the Elite tasks. Only 0.00227925% of Runescape’s population can even do this task.

The reward for completing all of the Elite tasks is unlimited teleports to the Allotment patch north of Ardougne and four 50k experience lamps that can be used in any skill level 85 or above.

Summarize

Total tasks: 61
Highest Skill requirement: 93 Summoning
Total Quest requirement: 21
Hardest Quest requirement: Monkey Madness
Easiest Task: Enter the Castle Wars waiting room
Hardest Task: Make a rune crossbow yourself, from scratch, performing each step within either Withchaven or Yanille
Most Expensive Task: Make a rune crossbow yourself, from scratch, performing each step within either Withchaven or Yanille

Total Rewards:
Ability to teleport to the monastery south of Ardougne an unlimited number of times, Twice as many death runes when trading a cat to a citizen in West Ardougne, lots of drops in the Tower of Life will become noted, A 10% Prayerboost on entry to Castle Wars, Unlimited teleports to the farm north of Ardougne , Better chance at getting more runes at Ourania Altar, Longer immunity from attack once teleporting to the wilderness from the Ardougne Lever, Toggle Ring of life teleport to Ardougne, Better chance at stealing and pickpocketing anywhere in RuneScape, After thieving from the chests in Ardougne Castle or under the chaos druid’s tower, you will be teleported to East Ardougne north Bank instead of a random location, Wizard Cromperty will give 150 pure essence per day, Ability to change the Watchtower teleport to take the player within Yanille’s walls. And one 1k, one 5k, one 28k (min skilllevel 60), and four 50k experience lamps (min skilllevel 85).

All in all I think this is one of the best achievement diaries yet and I’ll definitely be working to complete more of the tasks. If you don’t have anything else to do I’d suggest working towards completing this achievement diary.

One nice thing about being a writer is that you don’t have to speak. Which is really nice since today I just went to the dentist and had a filling put in. Which (if you’ve ever had one) you’ll know is not very comfortable and I’m praying the numbness and pain goes away soon. That […]

Falador Achievement diary

Not another one! Oh yes, they’ve made another one. But not just one, they made two this time! *faint* That was short lived…oh well. Yep, they released their fourth Achievement diary, the Falador chapter. They’ve also released a fifth one, the Fremmenik Province chapter. However due to massive animated piles of a blueish-purple metallic substance, […]
