Olaf’s Quest

A WORD FROM JAGEX

Olaf Hradson is a bit down on his luck and a little bit soggy too. He’s crashed his boat while in search of treasure and needs your help to find his feet again. Maybe you can find the treasure for yourself as a reward…

You’ll also now be able to get hold of the brine sabre – with its nifty underwater special attack – by killing the new brine rat Slayer monster.

This quest is one of the many ways that Jagex tells us that they need a holiday or two from running the game and making updates. Not only is the quest short and simple, but there is hardly any worthwhile reward except for the brine sabre, which is a rare drop from the brine rats – accessible even if you don’t complete the quest.

Anyways, you go towards where you go to hunt polar animals and you’ll find Olaf sitting there carving. Chat with him and listen to his story, then chop a windswept tree nearby for him to carve and deliver some artifacts he “found” to his family. In return, you get some nice food.

Return to Olaf, light his fire, and give him some bread. Then he’ll give you a treasure map that leads you, ironically, back to the windswept tree. Dig with a spade and enter a cavern, in which you must solve a series of quick puzzles, including a test of strength, logic, and patience. Once you finally get through to the chest, you’ll fight a level 100 skeleton (just fight by any means necessary). Then open the chest for a nice little reward consisting of gems and coins.

Ultimately, this is just a quick quest for those with some spare time. It appears that there will be a continuation of this quest, which will lead you to a cursed treasure. Sound fun?

The only worthwhile things there are the rats, which drop a good abundance of food, runes, and rat meat. If you have some time, I suggest you check it out.
